Item Description
This group of 29 pieces includes buttons from 1.25” up to 3.5” and ribbon badges from about 3” to 6”. Group begins with “State Democratic Convention Delegate” from Iowa 1924 the year that John W. Davis was nominated. Next are four Democratic party buttons circa 1930-1940. Two of these are similar but with different type faces. One is dated for 1932 and the fourth was issued by Philadelphia department store reading “Gimbels Welcome/Democratic Convention Delegates.” Next are a trio of Dewey/Republican 1948 buttons. The last of these has stain and heavy oxidation on the reverse collet. Next are a pair of 3.5” buttons stating that the Republican Party supports a veterans’ bonus. One has a metal back and one has a cardboard back and we suspect they reference WWII veterans. Next are eight Indiana GOP “Delegate” badges from state conventions spanning 1950-1962. One of these pictures Eisenhower and one includes a Nixon/Lodge jugate. All are done in very attractive metallic gold or silver foils. In the second photo are Republican and Democratic buttons mostly dated for election days between 1935-1955. The Republican buttons have ribbons with election dates of 1938, 1939, 1941, 1950, 1953, 1954, 1955. The “Democratic” items consist of a pair of identical buttons dated for 1937. The final item was issued for “Inauguration Of Gov. Earle-1935” and this has “Lehigh County” ribbon. Some ribbons have small creases and there are some minor defects on a couple of the buttons but for the most part if so confined to the reverse. An extremely clean group of 29 limited issue buttons.
