Item Description
Sizes are 5/8” to 2.5” and most buttons are celluloid. First photo shows 72 items. There is one piece in sterling and there is one “Aunt Jean” duplicate. A few items of note include Row 1 #1 which has clicker on reverse. Row 1 #2 which is rare “Puzzle Club/Honorable Mention” button. Row 2 #1 is lapel stud and Row 2 #2 is marked “Sterling”. Items in the first two rows are 1896-1920 era. Row 3 includes several related to newspaper strikes along with one for Charles Townsend publication, one for WWII “Garden Club” and two related to the Communist Party. Row 4 are all litho buttons naming various newspapers with text “Buy American Products.” Row 5 has large rare “NRA” button followed by button picturing “Silver King” the canine star of a 1933 movie titled “Rusty Rides Alone.” This is followed by eight buttons for the “Brooklyn Eagle.” Second photo shows 85 buttons for newspapers and magazines. The bottom three rows of buttons all have cracks so subtracting those this collection consists of 136 pieces Exc. to NM plus the damaged ones which in most cases still display very well. A collection years in the making.
