Item Description
Each of the first eleven buttons shows a member of the first national team, Uruguay, to win the World Cup. Each button shows a player with name below while Spanish slogan at the top translates to the effect ‘Tribute Of Whippet & Willy’s Knight.” Each of the eleven buttons has noticeable staining while about half of the reverse collets have heavy oxidation and a couple of these have some narrow hairline cello splits along the collet. Each also includes a back paper apparently naming the Montevideo button maker Juan Shaw. Additional text reads “Whippet/Willy’s Knight/Automoviles De Calidad.” Group comes with a color copy of a front cover of the program for the event. In addition there is a twelfth button picturing a man above inscription that translates to “Champions Of 1928 Olympics.” While this has some surface oxidation on the back, the front celluloid remains clean. All have full gloss. Rarities from the Paul Muchinsky Collection.
