Item Description
22" doll stands on 24x35.5x9.25" deep wooden display base w/silk-screened image of young girl on Masonite display bkg. and "Did You Ever See A Dream Walking?" text. Display was made by Robert Kayton Assoc. of New York City, 1950s. Ideal's "Saucy Walker" doll was produced 1951-1957. Hard plastic doll has Saran wig, sleep eyes, open mouth w/two teeth and original satin dress, fabric slip and underwear as well as soft plastic shoes and fabric stockings. Original string tag (w/photo image and promotional text) tied to wrist as issued. Display background also features "Does Everything! Walks! Rolls Her Eyes! Turns Her Head! Saran Hair...Wash It! - Wave It! Sits! Stands! Cries! Sleeps! No Keys - No Winding! 22 Inches Tall" promotional text. Back of display reveals original motor encased in wooden compartment. This is attached to metal rod connected to Saucy's Walker's feet. Display works and legs move as head turns. Display back has maker's sticker. String tag has moderate aging and some wear. VG/Fine. Masonite background has 6" hairline crack above "Saucy" name at upper left. Bottom of base has a few flakes to painted surface. Some overall aging to display and doll (w/some age spotting on legs). Section of original power cord at motor has tape. Display is Fine overall. Rare.
