Large 33.25x49.75" frame w/cream colored burlap backing has attached thick molded and painted composition high relief store display that measures 23.5x40x3" deep. c. 1935 by Old King Cole Inc., the premiere manufacturer of Disney store displays. Old King Cole made a wide variety of exceptional Disney displays for stores and theaters. This figure depicts Mickey Mouse in classic pose w/hands-on-hips. Tail is missing (tip visible on right foot) and figure had legs broken off at one point and reattached 2" above bottom of shorts. Mickey's right ankle has moderate surface crack which extends to a lesser degree across shoes and other ankle. Most paint appears to be original though Mickey's face has had some paint touch-up done on cheek and highlight accent added to nose. Front of Mickey's shorts have had touch-up as well in 4" circular area. Front has overall scattered hairline crazing which is really only visible when viewed closely. Scattered dust soiling and aging. Displays Fine. Mickey's feet have hand-painted text reading "Les Albums Mickey - 10 Frs" as figure was used in France to advertise French publisher Hachette's line of 1930s Mickey Mouse books which sold for 10 Francs each. At some point, display was attached to open frame for display and could likely be carefully removed if so desired but makes for nice display as is.
