Item Description
Sizes are 7/8” to 1”. The first item is actually a stickpin and it is one of the very first items produced to picture the character. A tin frame with 1.5” pin holds a slightly domed cardboard with full figure of him holding a newspaper and what appears to be a working man’s lunch pail. Small bit of surface paper off the background at left. Fine and rare. Next promotes the stage play and is circa late 1896 or early 1897. His shirt reads “Say Wate For Me/I’m Wid Gilmore & Leonard In Hogan’s Alley/See!” Tiniest bit of age tone on his shirt. Next and circa 1912 is from a large series issued by Tokio cigarettes. Button includes initials of artist Thomas Dorgan with text “I’m The Guy That Put The Yell In Yellow Kid.” NM displaying Mint. Last promotes one of the Yellow Kid endorsed products that outlived the newspaper run and lasted into the 1920s. This button reads “There Is Only One Yellow Kid/Big Bubble Chewing Gum.” Last two are NM and display Mint.
