Item Description
2.5" tall high quality and very high relief, probably silver plated, pin from a small series of rare jewelry pieces which include a metal plate on the reverse specifying the film title along with the director's name "Korda" and in this case some small engraved numbers "113" on the left and "61" on the right. We believe this piece depicts the Evil Vizier Jaffar, the villain in this 1940 fantasy classic. This example is a rare variety and differs from the standard design. On this example the 'crystal ball' is die-cut and cast as part of the larger figure. It also has a ruby jewel in his turban. The usual variety has a separate 'crystal ball' set in the stomach area of the figure and has no jewel. This impressive series of pins is highly desirable both in jewelry collecting circles along with movie collectors. N. Mint.
