Item Description
23.5x33" thin paper poster for Jan. 15-17, 19, 1969 concerts that took place at Frankfurt, Munich, Nürnberg and Stuttgart, Germany during The Jimi Hendrix Experience's 1969 German Tour, which began in Hamburg and concluded in Berlin. This poster was designed by renowned German concert poster artist Gunther Kieser and was printed in two different sizes; the larger 32x48" poster which was primarily displayed on bus shelters and on street walls and the smaller 23.5x33" size offered here, which were hung in stores, local establishments and pasted on telephone poles. This example was pasted on a telephone pole and was removed from such by original owner. Poster features image of Hendrix set against psychedelic-colored bkg. w/additional collage elements of various wires and metal plugs set amongst his hair, creating a truly unique image of the famed rock star. Poster was originally folded, w/five horizontal fold lines and a single central vertical fold line. Poster has been mounted to foamcore. Upper corners show obvious wear w/1.75x1-7/8" corner off at left and 5/8x1.5" corner off at right. Margins show scattered wear in the form of small creases/tears, w/five larger tears measuring 1.5" to 3". Pinholes at corners and a few narrow strips of tape along edges. VG overall, but impact of margins issues could be lessened if framed. Not to be confused w/the merchandise posters printed by Darien House that were sold at show venues and not used in advertising. These Darien House posters have a "15-1-69" date on them. This original (and the larger size) poster have only a few known surviving examples and are among the rarest and most sought after of all Jimi Hendrix posters.
