Item Description
1 9/16” copper plated white metal listed as Sullivan 1844-9. Obverse depicts Clay holding tattered flag with motto “Our Flag Trampled Upon.” Reverse depicts flying eagle holding a scroll in its beak inscribed “Natives” while outer edge reads “Beware of Foreign Influence 1844.” A small hole originally near the top edge was neatly plugged and barely shows. Reverse has hairline die-break line running vertically but again hardly showing. Copper finish is nearly all intact and overall condition is glossy VF. Scarce.
