Item Description
Ferrotype's with the thick rounded brass shell rims are referred to as the 'doughnut' style and were made in four sizes from 25mm up to 47mm in diameter. This is the 30mm size (1 3/16”) and is both rarer and quite a bit more impressive then the smallest 25mm version. The frame has nearly all its silver luster intact with never cleaned natural toning. The "Hannibal Hamlin” ferro is N. Mint with just the most trivial couple of pin point bubble dots along the extreme upper edge of near microscopic size. The “Abraham Lincoln” ferro is essentially Mint as made. The Lincoln image is Portrait #3, as referred to in the Sullivan book. Scarce, and an example of this essentially un-improvable quality is truly rare.
