Item Description
13/16” brass shell frame with suspension hole at top as made. Listed as Sullivan AL 1864-103. Obverse depicts an essentially Mint ferro with beautiful clarity of “A. Lincoln.” Brass background contains 32 stars and text along the left and right sides of the opening reads “Pat. Apr. 2. 1861.” Reverse is identical except for ferrotype image of “Johnson.” Only the very tiniest loss of luster on the Johnson side holds us back from calling this Mint but it comes oh so close. Much rarer then the typical versions with circular openings.
