Item Description
7/8" to commemorate April 28, 1930 opening game. No backpaper if it had one. High gloss and N. Mint. The Birmingham Black Barons was a professional baseball team based out of Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama which played in the negro leagues. The Barons were organized in 1920 and entered into the Negro Southern League. In 1923, they became an associate member of the Negro National League but, because of finances, they returned in 1926 to the Negro Southern League. In 1927, the team was once again part of the Negro National League. The team won the second half pennant with the help of pitcher Satchel Paige. They lost the Negro National League title to Chicago American Giants in four games. They were still part of the Negro National League when this 1930 button was issued. Only example we know of.
