Item Description
Complete set of six, about 5.5”x8.5” stiff paper. Masks are Goofy Grape, Loud Mouth Lime, Rootin’ Tootin’ Raspberry, Freckle Face Strawberry, Injun Orange, Chinese Cherry. c. 1964. The orange and cherry characters were altered shortly after their introduction due to complaints about their depictions of ethnic groups. Each has a pair of die-cut circle pieces at eyes that were meant to be punched out. Grape, orange, strawberry, and cherry have original punch-out circles intact. The remaining two masks are complete w/pair of circles although one or both are replacements for display purposes, and are essentially indistinguishable. Each also has a tiny pair of die-cut circle pieces on right and left sides that were to be punched out for the string attachment. Four masks are missing both of these, grape has one of the two, orange has both intact. Overall a NM set. This item is a file copy from the Gold archives and is accompanied by a letter to that effect signed by Gordon Gold.
