11x14" diecut cardboard display and 8x10.5" 28-page activity book advertised by the sign, issued by Miller Brothers Hat Co., maker of Dick Tracy and other hats for youths in the1940s. The display has cardboard easel on reverse. Comes w/original mailing envelope w/text at one corner reading "Here Is Your New Dick Tracy Show Card Featuring Hatfull O' Fun." Envelope has no mailing address but has moderate scattered dust soiling and margin wear, 2" edge split and .25" piece missing from edge at top left corner. VG. Display includes image of activity book front cover plus boy wearing a hat and text notes the book was "Free With Purchase Of Dick Tracy Boy's Hat." Very tiny scattered surface paper rubs, the word "Free" at top has a minute 1/16" surface paper flake on top edge of "F" and at center is 1/8" indentation, only noticeable when viewed closely. Still Exc. Book contents include magic tricks, puzzles and games, other activities, famous hats, etc. Dick Tracy and Junior are featured on several pages, Tracy also appears on the front cover. The full color back cover shows hats through the ages and includes ad at bottom for Dick Tracy hat. Contents have lightly aged but clean and unused, cover has .5" break at center spine edge o/w an Exc. copy. This item is a file copy from the Gold archives and is accompanied by a letter to that effect signed by Gordon Gold.
