Item Description
8.25" long tin litho by Marusan, Japan 1950s. Plain box bottom is clean and tight. Lid has moderate all over wear w/surface paper tears, tape repairs inside to side splits. Good. The lid and sides have great design and feature pictures of speeding toy on track and actual photo of 1952 Indy winner "Troy Rutman." In addition, four sides of lid picture 16 different photos of Indy winners from 1911 to 1951. Includes famous names - Ray Keech, Wilbur Shaw, Mario Rose, Lee Wallace, etc. Toy itself works well. Friction produces loud clicking/siren noise through built-in speaker on bottom of toy. Toy also has red plastic ports on both sides in rear where sparks are to appear, however, flint is not present but looks like it could be easily re-inserted. Toy has nice muted color scheme and just a few scattered scratches.
Displays VF. One of the truly classic 50s Japanese race toys.
