Item Description
Lot of 11, typically 4" to 5.5" tall by 3.5" wide. Printed by the American Tobacco Company Inc. in conjunction with Lucky Strike cigarettes. c. 1930s. Die-cut placecards are designed with caricature bodies and photo illustration of movie star heads. All are shown with "Lucky Strike" logo and many have cigarette in hand. Stars include: Monte Blue, Ona Munson, Glenn Tryon, Constance Cummings, Raymond Hackett, Marian Nixon, Evalyn Knapp, Neal Hamilton, Alexander Gray and two non-star cards. Cards were designed to bend easels back and have Lucky Strike cigarettes inserted in holes at feet and openings above. Matchsticks were designed to be fit under arms of actors as canes. Some cards have been folded as were used, all are bright and clean. Reverses have some aging that with exception of Alexander Gray card, do not infringe upon image on front. Overall VF/Exc.
