Item Description
Impressive 27.5x28.75" framed (no glass) and matted display has vintage original glossy 8x10" photo and 5 cards containing original Christmas card art done by the Dionne Quintuplets. Cards measure 4.5x6". Three cards feature Christmas bells, one features Christmas candle and other features Christmas tree. Each is inscribed in pencil "Joyeux Noell Bonne Annee." The Quints have added their names: Cecile, Emilie, Marie, Yvonne and Annette. Photo in center of piece features the Quints looking at a picture of themselves as infants as photographer Richard R. Railton photographs them. Railton was the first photographer allowed to photograph the Quints upon their birth on May 28, 1934 for the "North Bay Nugget" newspaper. It is this picture that the Quints have surrounded and are looking at. The Dionnes grew quite attached to Railton and made these Christmas cards for him. This piece came to us from Railton's personal secretary. Cards have some light aging and traces of dust soiling but remain a vivid display. Overall Exc. Unique. Comes with letter from Railton's personal secretary attesting to provenance.
