Item Description
20.5” long functional banjo with 7” dia. head. Missing strings and keys. Sticker at top reads “Nu-Way.” Face of banjo has numerous characters hand drawn in black ink. Includes Barney Google, Mutt, Jiggs, Harold Teen, etc. Many with reference to “Ruth.” Lower left side has drawing of pretty lady wearing fur and 20s hat with tag attached reading “Ruth.” Balloon caption reads “Hello Everyone.” Barney Google sits on stool gazing at her with hearts and lightning bolts above him. Artwork is professionally done by more than one artist but only one name appears in bottom right “Bud.” Back side has hand written text “Ruth Kuck/Owner Of This ‘Bull Fiddle’/Post No Bills/This End Up/1922.” Ruth Kuck is unknown to us, but was obviously held in high regard by the contributors of this artwork. Scattered age toning and various rubs on art. Luster loss to metal hardware. Truly a one-of-a-kind piece of character folk art. Fine.
