Lot of four items. First is 4.25x6-3/8" engraved invitation from "The President And Mrs. Nixon Request The Pleasure Of Your Company At Dinner Honoring The Apollo 11 Astronauts/Century Plaza Hotel Los Angeles, California On Wednesday Evening, August 13, 1969 At 7:00/Black Tie/Los Angeles Ballroom." Second is 6.25x9" fold-over souvenir w/color image of Armstrong on moon w/flag. Inside has excerpts from Nixon's phone call to Armstrong and Aldrin on the moon along w/cancelled first day of issue stamp showing "First Man On The Moon." Back gives excerpts of "Description Of Moon By Astronauts Neal Armstrong And Buzz Aldrin." Third is 9x11.25" cardboard folder w/"Apollo 11" logo on front. Inside is 5.75x7-5/8" polished metal replica of the plaque left on the moon by Armstrong and Aldrin. The plaque text includes "Here Men From The Planet Earth First Set Foot Upon The Moon July 1969, A.D./We Came In Peace For All Mankind." Facsimile signatures of Armstrong, Collins, Aldrin and Nixon appear below text. At bottom of plaque reads "President's Dinner Honoring Apollo 11 Astronauts August 13, 1969." NM. Fourth item is 4.25x6.5" engraved dinner menu from the event. Back of menu has autographs in ink w/notations as follows: "Phil Chapman NASA Astronaut, Pamela Chapman Ambassador Of Vietnam And Mrs. Bhi-Diem, Evelee Younger DA, LH & Mrs. Younger; Walter F. Burke Pres. McDonnell Douglas Aeronautics Co. And Mrs. (And The Most Important) Burke." Interesting lot for Richard Nixon's only dinner for Apollo 11. Exc.
