Item Description
Full size shiny Lycra body suit w/8x10" embroidered applique on chest of Superman's iconic "S" shield. Suit has full-length, 55" long cape w/7x9" yellow embroidered "S" shield on back of cape. Red trunks and vinyl belt w/applied belt buckle complete the costume. Suit also comes w/pair of replica 11.5" long, 18.5" tall red leather-like boots that have zippers in back. Complete suit was worn by actor John Haymes Newton in season 1 of the show and cape may have been worn by Gerard Christopher in season 2-4 on the 1988-1992 series "Superboy." This flying suit has been altered with holes in trunks and bottom tights to accommodate the flying harness. Suit shows light wear from production use including a few tiny holes/pulls but displays VF overall. Belt and liner of cape have been autographed by both actors at 1994 and 1995 Annual Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois. Also comes with signed poster from event and "S" shield wall plaque both signed by Christopher. Suit is displayed on and comes with 6'2" tall mannequin that has had it's face/hair painted to closely resemble Superboy and enhanced body muscularity. Mannequin has some chips and cracks from transport and handling. Displays Exc. Includes original watercolor of suit from Disney MGM Studios art department and is signed by John Haymes Newton. There are multiple pages of provenance from previous owner included. Franco Toscanini Collection.
