Item Description
10x16" overall with hand written letter on 8x10" folded section boldly signed at conclusion "John Quincy Adams." Letter is from "25 October 1821" when Adams was Sec. of State and is written to "Andrew Gregg Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania." Adams acknowledges the receipt of fives copies of Pennsylvania's law books that are destined for various branches of government. Two vertical and three horizontal folds from mailing. Reverse has toning at fold lines and a tiny hole in paper just above ink notation. Letter side has almost no paper toning and ink remains strong and bold. Signature is unusual with each name written out fully. A trivial smudge on the "MS" still a bold and rare signature. Fine with letter section displaying VF. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
