Item Description
2.25" with Baltimore union bug.  Outer text reads "Keep Democracy Working By Keeping It Moving Forward." At center is a clear covering that reveals a paper insert reading "Delegate Lucille Myski Lincoln HS." At top center is "ASU" logo and below "4th Annual Convention N.Y.C.-1938." A merger of Student League For Industrial Democracy, a socialist group, and the National Student League, a communist group resulted in the ASU's formation. By 1940 the group was being investigated by the Dies Committee of the US House of Representatives because of its close ties with Communist Party USA and by 1941 had disbanded. This button is a rare survivor of the short lived group that was issued in very limited numbers. Exc. displaying Mint.
