Item Description
5-7/8x9x1.75" deep sturdy cardboard and wooden box w/hinged lid contains complete puzzle block set by The Chad Valley Co. Ltd. of England. 1930s. Box has printed paper covering w/illustrated paper label on lid depicting one of the scenes found on the puzzle blocks of Mickey Mouse playing music w/Pluto. Label has lt. even aging and .25" and .5" faint spots of moisture staining. Fine/VF. Rest of box has scattered edge wear w/traces of cardboard/wood underneath showing. VG/Fine. Set consists of 15 wood blocks, each 1.5" square w/full color paper labels on all sides. Blocks form a total of six different scenes. In addition to the puzzle scene shown on lid, the other five are - Mickey looking through telescope w/Pluto, Mickey as pirate on ship, Pluto pumping up car tire as Mickey whistles, Mickey golfing w/Pluto as caddy, Pluto and Mickey coming home after hunting. All blocks have overall even aging to the paper labels, which show some rippling. This does not greatly affect any of the scenes which still have strong color. Blocks are Fine/VF. There were several varieties of this puzzle set produced, w/different configurations. This is the first we've seen of this particular configuration in our 49 years.
