Item Description
Hake #226. 1-7/16" tall with vertical pin on the brass reverse. Pin shaft has some green discoloration but is otherwise undamaged. The front depicts a highly detailed elephant with the Grand Old Party initials on its forehead. Elephant's head is on a spring hinge and when lifted up a paper label shows a woman's undergarment with a padlock in the crotch area with the illustration serving as a rebus for the slogan "Locked For Protection." Couple tiny grey dots on the paper label and a good bit of the original luster off the elephant's head but with most luster remaining on its ears. A clever mechanical from 1896.
