Item Description
The Burroughs Bibliophiles is a literary society which is devoted to the study of - and promotion of interest in - the works, fictional characters and life of Edgar Rice Burroughs, who created both Tarzan and John Carter of Mars. Founded in 1960, just ten years after Burroughs' death, the Burroughs Bibliophiles sponsor an annual convention known as a "Dum Dum." Offered here are three shirts for two different conventions. Two are size Large for 1997 Newton, IO convention and other is size XL for 1998 Baltimore, MD convention. All three feature Tarzan art by noted comic book artist (and Tarzan and apes) fan Frank Cho. Shirts are unworn and Mint. Comes w/"Titanic Tales" Vol. 1, #1 published in 1998 and featuring a Burroughs article by Al Williamson (1931-2010), who has signed "To Franz - All The Best Wishes" in black felt tip pen on interior page. Front cover has been signed in gold paint pen by cover artist Mark Wheatley as well as writer Allan Gross, who provided "Bride Of The Beast Story" that is illustrated by Cho, who has signed inside in black felt tip pen, inscribing "Franz! Keep On Truckin' Monkey Boy." NM.
