Item Description
Largest 3/4" and smallest 5/8". Each has W&H backpaper. Designs feature logo with text on book at center. The "Lieut" has a couple faint light brown dots at 6 o'clock and "1921" has a tiny separation on the collet at 5 o'clock. Both are Extremely Fine displaying NM. Between 1916 and 1920 the NAACP went from around 9,000 members to nearly 90,000. The addition of former James Weldon Johnson as field secretary was a major aid to the boom. These buttons are some of the earliest and despite the booming membership numbers these buttons had limited distribution. Rare.
