Item Description
All are 7/8". The first nine were issued by W&H as a set of 17 in 1897 at a price of 35 cents for the set. These were also used by American Pepsin Gum as give-away buttons but most of these have a W&H back paper or stamp on the metal reverse. The nine that are here are very clean and glossy with exception of the last which has a little even tan tone. Ships are: Britannic, Campania, City Of Rome, Elbe, Great Eastern, New York, St. Louis, Teutonic, Umbria. Ship funnels first button shows stain marks and third has some tiny black scuffs but the other three are NM displaying Mint. Names in order are: Anchor Line, Atlantic Transport Line, Hamburg American Line, Netherlands Line, North German Lloyd Line. These are c. 1898 and there may be a couple to round out the set that are not here.
