Item Description
18.5x26.75" frame has mat w/large opening w/photo print of The Teenagers 1957 Gee LP cover. Additionally, matt has etched plaque that reads "Frankie Lymon - 1942-1968 - Recorded #1 Hit - 'Why Do Fools Fall In Love?'" This classic song was a hit for early New York City-based Rock & Roll group Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers in Feb. 1956. It reached No. 1 on the R&B chart, No. 6 on Billboard's Pop Singles chart and No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart. Display includes an actual copy of the band's 45 single of "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?" which has been signed by all five members of the band, signatures on Side A and B. As framed, both sides are visible as back portion of display has opening under plexiglas that allows for viewing as professionally matted and framed. Side A (front of display) has been signed by Lymon (1942-1968), Joe Negroni and Sherman Gates while Side B (back of display) has been signed by Jimmy Merchant and Herman Santiago. Side A has heavy fading to red label and is VG overall w/VF signatures. Side B has lesser degree of fade and is Fine w/VF signatures. Both sides' labels have color rubs and scattered wear but signatures remain distinct. All items signed by all five members of the band are very rare and this is the only record we have ever seen signed. Comes with Hake's COA and Roger Epperson/REAL LOA.
