Item Description
5.75x7.25x3-1/8" deep solid cast iron bookends w/felt pads on undersides. Incised text on back of each reading "Old Ironsides - D49 Copyright 1927 Gifthouse Inc, NYC" and bearing "Bron Met" maker mark/patent date. Nice depiction of the USS Constitution, a wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate of the US Navy, named by President George Washington after the Constitution of the United States of America. Launched in 1797, Constitution was one of six original frigates authorized for construction by the Naval Act of 1794 and the third constructed.  Now a museum ship, the Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship still in service in the world. A few spots of oxidation on each, one showing a bit more than the other, but this blends somewhat w/aged patina. Still displays VF.
