Item Description
8.5x11" fanzine is issue No. 2, "Science Fiction Heroes Edition" from 1963. Published by Jim Harmon, a short story author and pop culture historian who wrote extensively about the Golden Age of Radio. He sometimes used the pseudonym Judson Grey and was occasionally labeled "Mr. Nostalgia." Harmon wrote more than 50 short stories and novelettes for "Amazing Stories" and others, the best of Harmon's science fiction stories being reprinted in Harmon's Galaxy (Cosmos Books, 2004). Cover features amateur art of Superman and Buck Rogers together w/additional Superman image used for "Radio's Mightiest Hero" article by Don Glut. Buck Rogers article also features images of the space hero. Other characters mentioned within include Tom Mix, Tom Corbett and Commander Cody. Covers have slight age fade at margins and pages have moderate even aging and are slightly brittle w/some small tears at edges. Fine overall. Scarce as this nostalgia fanzine had a limited print run.
