Item Description
Painted cast iron 1-3/8x2" tall fully three-dimensional figural head of African-American hobo wearing hat, his hat formed as a separate piece capable of sliding up/down. Cap is inserted under hat and then when thrown down, the hat sits on head, causing cap to explode. Center rod (attached to head) has cast loop at top so that it can be attached to a cord for throwing purposes. Ideal, c. 1895. This was at one time painted silver, and 30% of original paint remains. Some scattered oxidation. Fine overall.
