Item Description
24x29.5" poster features stylized art of king at steering wheel. Art is by Herbert Leupin (1916-1999), a noted Swiss graphic designer known primarily for his poster art. Leupin made his name in the 1940s through his use of the magic realism style of images advertising consumer goods. This poster advertises the 1958 Renault Dauphine, a rear-engined economy car manufactured by Renault. More than two million units were sold worldwide during its production run from 1956 until 1967. Along w/such cars as the Volkswagen Beetle, Mini and Fiat 500, the Dauphine pioneered the modern European economy car. Poster is an original 1958 printing and has never been folded, though rolled for storage. Margins show moderate small creases/tears w/signs of wear, but these could be easily matted out for a Fine/VF display.
