Item Description
3-5/8x5-1/8" gouache painting on card stock, the original art used to produce the card. Comes w/2.5x3.5" example card #45 titled "The Riverboat Explodes/Memphis, Tenn.- June5, 1863." This set was issued in 1962, comprised of 88 cards. ACC# R709-5. Saunders did the art for 13 cards in this set. He also did art for other Topps issues including Mars Attacks, Ugly Stickers and more in addition to producing art for pulp magazines, paperbacks, men's adventure magazines, and comic books. Highly detailed art shows exploding riverboat w/bodies flying from the blast, in the foreground is an alligator. Reverse has notation of card number/title. Original art is Exc. and unique. An exceptional pice of gum card art.
