Item Description
This matched pair of items are unlisted in Hake and rarities both because of their limited distribution and the nature of their construction. The Harding is 4.5" tall while the Cox is 5" tall, the difference being the length of a double cord holding a simulated pearl at the bottom. On the Harding piece, one of the two cord strands has broken near the top but the other strand holds the pearl in correct position. The top of each piece is a piece of tin with a large safety pin fastener on the reverse. Left and right folded pieces hold a cardboard insert differing in that the Cox item has a pair of red stars plus a union bug. At the middle of each item a 1-3/8" tall piece of tin has narrow folded left and right edges encompassing the ribbon behind a real photo cardboard photo of each candidate. Only the slightest trace of dust soil or toning on the cardboard panels with their names and a very trifling trace of dust at the bottom of the Harding ribbon. Both are VF and both are rare.
