Item Description
7-1/8x8-5/8x1" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains set designed by Fawcett Publications for Hobby Notes (who made a matching Mary Marvel set), 1946. Lid features illustration of Captain Marvel holding one of the 16 enclosed sheets of illustrated stationery. Set also includes 16 envelopes. Lid has dust soiling and aging, w/slight inward warp and two repaired side panel splits. Fine. Paper remains w/"Captain Marvel Hobby Notes" paper band and are very lightly aged (a few more than others) but all remain unused. VF/Exc. Scarce. From the collection of Chip Kidd, renowned author, graphic designer and pop culture enthusiast extraordinaire. This is the photo example from his book "Shazam: The Golden Age of the World's Mightiest Mortal."
