Item Description
Large 16xz20" stiff cardboard has 11x14" glossy photo print showing Burt Ward in his Robin costume from the 1960s "Batman" TV show. Board has extensive blue felt tip pen inscription below photo, w/Ward personalizing it "Zonk! To Sol Harrison, DC Comics And All My Friends At Warner Communications! Best Always, Burt Ward 'Robin,' The Boy Wonder" as well as adding "5/20/77" date and smiley face. Harrison was a comic book colorist, production manager and executive whose career spanned nearly 50 years in the industry, and was promoted to DC Comics President in 1976. In 1985, he was named as one of the honorees by DC in the company's 50th Anniversary publication "Fifty Who Made DC Great." Back of board has "Return To Andy Helfer (Burt's My Fave!)" handwritten note in grease pencil. Helfer is a comic book creator best-known for his work as an editor and writer at DC, where he founded the Paradox Press imprint. Board has faint 6.5" crease at lower left and scattered age spotting to board margins. These do not greatly affect photo or inscription/signature, which could be matted for a VF display. While Ward has always happily signed autographs for fans, the DC Comics connection associated w/this piece makes for a unique signed item. Comes with Hake's COA.
