Item Description
10x15.75" softcover book published by Saalfield, ©1935 KFS. Book No. 2097 features seven different King Features Syndicate characters, including Popeye, Katzenjammer Kids, Blondie, Dumb Dora Just Kids, Annie Rooney, Polly and Her Pals. Each of these are featured in nice portraits on front cover. Each of the stiff single-sided pages as well as back cover are designated for the characters mentioned above. Each page features punch-out dolls, 12 dolls in total. Each page also features outfits for those characters. Pages and inside covers feature scattered tanning from age, aging in the shape of the full color pieces, aging occurring where colored pieces touched. While some punch-out pieces are affected, this does not distract greatly. Pages have scattered loose perforations, w/one of the Just Kids outfits being totally loose but present. Blondie is missing one hat and Popeye's cap has had bottom portion removed (not affecting graphics) and hat is still in place on page. Annie Rooney doll and Katzenjammer pieces on back cover are most affected by aging. Pinch creases to spine. Fine overall. Among the rarest comic character paper doll books, this being the first example we've offered in our 49 years.
