Item Description
The 1912 Summer Olympics (Olympiska sommarspelen 1912), officially known as the Games of the V Olympiad, were an international multi-sport event held in Stockholm, Sweden, between May 5 and July 22, 1912. Offered here is a pewter participation medal, measuring 2" (51mm) dia. Designed by Bertram Mackennal, the obverse features image of Zeus seated on Ionian column holding figure of Nike w/Stockholm in bkg. Reverse features Quadriga w/triumphant winner. Minted by Vaughton of England. Medal shows some scattered wear w/small scattered rubs to raised areas of high relief reverse, Fine/VF.
