Item Description
See 1936 Berlin Olympics Silver Medal, previous item #782. Offered here is a bronze participation medal, measuring 2.75" (70mm) dia. Designed by Otto Placzek, the obverse features five athletes (representing the five continents) pulling the ropes of the Olympic Bell. Reverse features Olympic Bell embossed w/German Eagle. The medals were produced by four foundries - Heintze & Barth, Sperlich, Noack and Martin & Pilzing - and were produced in four colors -
reddish brown, brown, greenish brown and dark brown. Example being offered here is dark brown color variety. Medal shows some scattered wear w/rubs to raised high relief areas, VF.
