Item Description
The 1928 Summer Olympics (Olympische Zomerspelen 1928), officially known as the Games of the IX Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event which was celebrated in 1928 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Offered here is a bronze participation medal, measuring 2-1/8" (55mm) dia. Designed by J.C. Wienecke, the obverse features image of a nude male and female athlete on podium holding torch over Olympic flame. Reverse features Nike over Marathon Tower, w/the shield of Amsterdam between two hemispheres. Crafted by Gerritsen and Van Kempen of Zeist, Netherlands. Medal shows some scattered wear/aging, Fine/VF.
