Item Description
The 1968 Summer Olympics (Juegos Olímpicos de Verano de 1968), officially known as the Games of the XIX Olympiad, were an international multi-sport event held in Mexico City, Mexico, in Oct. 1968. These were the first Olympic Games to be staged in Latin America and the first to be staged in a Spanish-speaking country. Offered here is a copper participation medal, measuring 2x2" (50x50mm). Designed by Lance Wyman, the obverse features Olympic sports pictograms divided by Mexico Olympic emblem. Reverse features Mexican legend between two parallel lines. Medal shows some scattered wear w/some tiny edge nicks. Fine overall.
