Item Description
Each is 7/8" w/Phila. Badge Co. back paper and text on curl. Founded 1830 this yard was the only one to successfully transition from building wooden ships to iron ones becoming the pre-eminent builder of the late 19th century. Their fame peaked when they built Teddy Roosevelt's Great White Fleet. After World War I government contacts dried up and Cramps announced that it would be an open shop in 1921. The union walked out and management replaced them. These buttons were sold to aid the strikers. An impressive group with all NM, displaying Mint. Scarce.
