Item Description
1.25" button without back paper or maker name shows a man who participated in the famous Los Angeles to New York race organized by promoter C.C. Pyle with the race dubbed the Bunion Derby. Of the 199 participants who left Ascot Speedway, Los Angeles March 4th, 55 made it to Madison Square Garden New York (via Chicago) finishing May 26th. They traveled 3,422.3 miles with the winning time of 803 hours, 47 minutes. Morady was 26th among the 55 finishers. We do not know if this button was made during the time of this famous race but it was certainly produced then or shortly afterward and it is the only button we know of to show a participant in the famous event.
