Item Description
This collection, years in the making, contains 44 different buttons. Of the 44 buttons, 42 of these are 2-1/8" real photo buttons picturing dirt track and many pioneering NASCAR drivers from the 1950s into the early 1960s. Some of these buttons name specific race tracks. Muchinsky devoted much research to these buttons and with the collection comes a 27 page printout from his website which pictures many of these same buttons and details his extensive research into their origin. Of these 42 buttons, eight have minor traces of stain, eight have moderate traces of stain, seven have heavy/obvious stain. VG to VF. Nineteen of the buttons are Exc. to Mint. The 43rd button in this group is a 3" reading "I Like Nate/Illustrated Speedway News". There is also a photo button picturing Nate Kleinfield the writer/announcer who covered racing events around the New Jersey area. The last button in the group is 3.5" and it is a large real photo with text "Sam Beavers Fan Club." This has numerous but light stain marks on the background. These buttons were issued in very limited quantities on a very local basis and even single examples are scarce so this collection is quite extraordinary.
