Item Description
Many different Mickey Mouse tea sets were made in Japan in the 1930s, this is one of the rarer varieties w/some slightly different-shaped pieces and unusual raised design on the teapot, sugar and creamer. Comes in generic 11x14.25x3.25" deep cardboard box w/"The Little Hostess Set" lid label and is complete w/insert. Box shows obvious wear w/one box bottom partially split and 3-5/8" piece of lid side panel loose (but included). Lid has scattered surface paper lifts/insect damage. Good/VG. This is a 15-piece, four-setting set that includes 4.25" tall teapot (w/lid), 2.5" tall sugar (w/lid) and 1.75" tall creamer. All are matching variety w/raised dots and flowers design surrounding full body image of large Mickey w/smaller Mickey on teapot and repeated smaller Mickey image on sugar and creamer. Also included in set are four 3.75" dia. saucers, four 4.25" dia. plates and four 2.75" dia. by 1.5" tall handled cups. Plates feature same image of running Mickey as seen on cups and saucers, but w/additional small Mickey seen on teapot. Three cups have had repairs (one extensive). One plate has tiny chip on rim while rest of set retain bright and glossy appearances w/nice iridescent accent paint. Aside from mentioned issues w/cups and plate, set is Exc. Rare tea set, first we've seen in our 49 years. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection.
