Item Description
Hake #3103. 1-11/16" diameter. The pewter rim was pierced for suspension at the top with a tiny 1/16" hole and a large 1/8" hole that expanded the pewter upwards. Rim holds a pair of convex rock crystal disks w/interior black and white coloration. On the front, the white is intact and reads around his profile "Maj. Gen. W.H. Harrison/Born Feb. 9, 1773." The black background displays as largely intact, although if the piece is moved in reflected light some air between the color and the glass reflects a silvery color over 50% of the area. On the reverse the white inscription reads "The Peoples Choice/The Hero Of Tippecanoe" w/some white color off the word "Choice", but still readable. There is about 60% of black background color loss and these areas display a gray color. Only very minor wear on the glass surfaces seen barely at all without magnification. An important and rare piece. Don & Mildred Wright Collection.
