Item Description
Each is 7/8". Most have W&H back paper. Group begins with "Butterfly Pictures" a film production company, part of the Universal Film Manufacturing Company, which announced in 1917 a new brand of feature films that would be five reels in length. They operated in 1917 and for a few months in 1918. Next is first seen button from 1915 which includes "Universal" logo. Text is "I Have Seen Warren Kerrigan As Terence O'Rourke." This was a trio of related stories done as two-reelers. The remaining five buttons are for serials. First is Zudora from 1914, produced by Thanhouser. The remaining four were released by "Universal" with that word appearing on each button. Purple Mask is from 1916, followed by The Grey Ghost from 1917, followed by a pair of buttons for Graft from 1915. Among the very earliest known movie buttons. All are NM to Mint.
