Item Description
Child's heavy cotton sweatshirt w/collar tag noting "14 - 32" size. 49.5" from sleeve to sleeve. Norwich Knitting, early 1940s. Shirt features image on chest showing full body image of Superman standing on his comic book title/logo. Map of the United States is in bkg. surrounded by four boys playing baseball, football, hockey and bicycling. Three of the four clearly wear Superman-inspired "S" shirts. "Keep America Strong" text appears across map above Superman's head. Image shows lt. scattered wear but is still quite distinct and remains totally clear. Two tiny snags below image. .25" pull at each shoulder. Tiny spot of staining at left armpit seam. Rare and the only example we know of in the hobby. Still displays VF. Norwich also produced a premium sweatshirt for Gum Inc. that shows Superman breaking chains. While that shirt is rare, this shirt is even rarer and is one of just two examples known to us. First we've offered in our 49 years. Franco Toscanini Collection.
