Item Description
Original cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains 2.5x6x4" tall tin litho toy w/built-in key. Made in Japan by Yoshiya/Frankonia, 1950s. Box shows scattered wear w/creases to lid and corner tip wear. Fine overall. The whale is depicted w/angry expression, w/open mouth bearing jagged teeth. Oddly, this menacing "Billy" whale is depicted w/polka dot bow on his head. Also has simulated waves around bottom. Simulated water spout emerging from blow hole. Toy works and travels forward as a burst of air comes out of the spout to suspend a Styrofoam ball, which is included. Toy has some scattered paint nicks/scratches but is still bright, glossy and VF/Exc. overall.
