Item Description
Fred Zollner was a Fort Wayne, Indiana business man and industrialist who essentially turned a local industrial league basketball team into the National Basketball League. First and earliest item in this group probably from the 1940s, is a 1" litho that designated the wearer as a "Member/Zollner Piston/Knot Hole Gang" fan. Second is another 1" litho from shortly after 1957 when Zollner moved his National Basketball Association franchise to Detroit. This reads "Detroit Pistons 'One Of A Thousand' Club 1959-60/Season Ticket Subscriber." Last is a very striking 1.75" button showing a basketball player comprised of piston parts smiling happily as he dribbles a basketball printed all over by bold type "I'm A Piston Booster." This was likely issued in Detroit in the mid to late 1950s. Very tiny wear traces on the first litho but that is still VF and the other two are NM displaying Mint. Three rare buttons from the Paul Muchinsky Collection.
